Food Coops around the country
Atlanta Food Coop
Dear Bro. Jahi and the New Way of Life Fruit and Veggie Coop
For nearly 3 years now I have viciously whinned and complained about allll the food you all deliver to me for FREE and for only $20 per box per week. I shall whine and complain no more. I now realize how very ungrateful I have been for your marvelous service; how very absurd, indeed insane, I was for fighting against your efforts to (help me put on a few pounds, haha), help me eat healthier than I've ever eaten in my life! and to help me save at least $10 per week on my fruit and vegetable purchases. The savings, of course, increase to at least $20 when one factors in the time and gas saved from having to shop for themselves. And since I am a non meat eating vegetarian, you basically do 90% of my shopping each week. Thank you!!!!
I recall many weeks where I would schedule not to be at home, hoping that you would not be so accommodating by agreeing to deliver my box where ever was best for me during the time of your FREE deliverys. You always delivered, friendly, jovial, and at the time you said you would to my other home called work, my other home called the gym, to my favorite restuarant, to the laundry mat ... where ever I was you delivered!! Through heat waves, droughts, rain, hail, sleet and what little snow that visits the ATL you were there, delivering my nutrients to me, for FREE and for only $20 a box per week.
Do you remember the time period where I canceled some of my orders because I simply could not keep up with alllll the food you provided me with for only $20 a box per week? All the carrots and bell peppers and brocolli and tomatoes and cucumbers and squash and eggplants and salad and strawberries and bananas and beans and cauliflower and, oh Lord, the apples and the oranges, and the tangerines, and the grapes too ... and much more including, of course, my favorites, and often requested veggies, spinach and red potatoes--YUMM!! MMYYY!!! I would call you, e-mail you, cry loudly to your face that I could not possibly eat allllll of the food you were delivering for FREE for only $20 per box per week all by myself!!! But it seemed you either had hearing problems or was unable to control yourself in the very generous amounts of food you continued to overwhelm me with every week.
"Have mercy on me!!" I pleaded once to your uncompromising heart!! "For the love of God!!" I screamed in frustration, "I have a one-person household!! Me!!! And I eat sparingly. And I cannot possibly eat allllll that food you deliver to me for FREE, for only $20 per box per week, in one week!!! Can't you understand this?!!!" But no matter how many times I reminded you of these facts you ignored them and continued to inundate me week after week after week with all kind of fruits and vegetables.
Those were the days when I was but a child. But this is the day where childish murmuring ceases!! I now totally appreciate the New Way of Life Fruit and Veggie Coop staff and services as I should have appreciated you in the very beginning. Thank you for forcing alllll that food on me. Thank you for delivering allll that food to me for FREE where ever I may be in the ATL. Thank you for saving me much needed money on my fruit/veggie purchases. Thank you for saving me very valuable shopping time. Thank you for saving me gas. Thank you for including a Final Call Newspaper in every box. Thank you for the 2 pounds of navy beans that comes with most purchases too.
In 2006, here's to a New Way of Life where we Eat to Live and not live to eat!!!

AS-SALAAM ALAIKUM
I, Brother Frank J. Muhammad and My Queen Sister Barbara J. Muhammad are Ministers of Agriculture in Muhammad Mosque 34 in Durham, North Carolina. In following the instructions given the attendees at our annual convention in January 2005 held in Dawson Georgia by Dr. Ridgely Abdul Mu'min Muhammad, National Minister of Agriculture and Farm Coordinator and Sister Anne Muhammad, National Farm Marketing Coordinator we came back and started a food buyers club. We chose the name of " Our Daily Bread Eat 2 Live". We located local farmers and distributors from which to purchase farm fresh produce from. WE then made bi-weekly purchases of bulk items. Some included cabbage, tomatoes, green bell peppers, red bell peppers, carrots, lettuce, yellow squash, zucchini squash, egg plants, spinach, sweet corn, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, red potatoes, string beans, apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, and strawberries. We would then put from 8 to 10 of these items in each box at the cost of $20.00 to each purchaser. Some of the items would change from week to week depending on the growing seasons and availability of the produce and fruits. We started selling to the Believers in the Mosque and the public would see us on delivery and make their purchase also. Everyone made comments of how much food they was getting. Some admitted that it was more food than they could use and were going to share it with family or neighbors. In each box we put The Final Call Newspaper and a flyer thanking each purchaser for their support and for them to spread the word. Each time we give two boxes to families. We also make a donation to the local school fund of the mosque. We are doing just this part to help make The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan words spoken to the world again at The Millions More Movement LIVE.
